British Army Baker Rifle, 1806, with Flintlock, REMAINDER with Flaws

British Army Baker Rifle, 1806, with Flintlock, REMAINDER with Flaws Flawed, discounted item: This musket is a remainder with flaws. The brass fittings are corroded in places, and the barrel shows dried vaseline residues. Please note that discounted products that are expressly mentioned as flawed items are non-returnable. Here we offer a replica of the famous Baker rifle, based on a model from 1806, with flintlock. This rifle has been used by the rifle corps of the British Army (the riflemen, well-known because of their green jackets) during the Napoleonic Wars. In about 1798 the master gunsmith Ezekiel Baker got the order to design a new weapon for this corps. 2 years and a few models later the Baker Rifle was placed into production. It consisted of a 76 cm long barrel with seven rectangular grooves to impart spin to the projectile for improved flight stability. The rifling gave the projectile a twist and thus increased the stability of the bullet trajectory. This resulted in an almost unsurpassable range of up to 300 m with high accuracy, which compensated for the disadvantage that only about 2-3 shots per minute could be fired with the muzzleloader. For a few decades this weapon has been used not only by British snipers but as well by American and other foreign regiments that were supported by the British Army. The rifle has a simple folding backsight with the standard large lock mechanism with goose-necked cock. Like the German Jager Rifle it has a scrolled brass trigger and a patch box covered with a brass plate. Bernard Cornwell, the famous author of the novel Sharpe’s Rifles owns one of those authentic replicas. Our muzzle-loader replicas are intended for decoration and re-enactment. The muzzle has not been drilled, so the weapon is not functional. A beautiful item for every collection and an indispensable accessory for re-enactors. Details: - flintlock - Total length: approx. 116 cm - Barrel length: approx. 76 cm - Weight: approx. 3.4 kg - Bore: .62 cal. Please note: We do not sell this product to customers under the age of 18.
